Oh I didn't purchase anything during my shopping escapades. The outings were more for visual therapy and to generate ideas.
I understand why you're rattled. I think everyone is, to some degree. Things are so different now. I hate sounding like my parents when I say it. Looking back, I don't think this bothered my mother too much, she rolled with the punches. I'm certain change and uncertainties, coupled with aging did something to my father's will to live a longer life.
I don't think I've ever tasted spam. I was horrified when my husband told me that when he was a child, his menu du jour on any day trips out with the school would be his mum's spam and ketchup sandwiches - his choice! - usually eaten within five minutes of boarding the coach, rather than lunchtime.
Sad to say that I'm no stranger to online spam - I seem to delete tonnes of the stuff from my inbox daily...
Hmm...I used to take bologna + ketchup sandwiches in my lunchbox to school. So, I decided to look up the ingredients (for the first time ever) to see if it was similar to SPAM. It appears to have a lot of things that don't sound too healthy. Apparently, I would've been better off with the six ingredient SPAM sandwich.
But, we can definitely do without the online version, for sure!
I wouldn't touch Spam with a 50-foot pole. Until I spent 3 weeks in Hawaii. It is a staple there. I had to try it eventually due to the company I kept. Spam and eggs were the bomb. For that vacation time. Never touched it since. That was 35 years ago.
Today's Spam mail never applies to me. Too bad. Usually what I'm researching isn't easy to find.
I miss bricks-and-mortar shopping terribly. It gave me ideas for creativity, an excuse to leave the house, and when I needed something on demand I could run out and find it. Online shopping forces me to be prepared for all occasions. I lost my freedom to some extent.
I too looked for reasons to be out of the house (whenever my ex was at home.) Shopping wasn't my top choice because I lacked the money to buy things we needed, let alone things I wanted. Most of my earnings took care of the 'extras' for the kids. These days it's more about traffic, crowds, and the fear of being shot for the crime of needing toilet paper.
Sorry, recent events have rattled me (again) and so many people today are angry, mean, and self-absorbed. I avoid their company as much as possible.

Great post!

I shall tell Jim right now that he’s not the only one in the world with his unique palate! 🙌
Interesting links. And yes, I get many of the same spams as you despite NEVER having googled or past-purchased. Big Brother - sigh...
I have tried SPAM - never again. I avoid both the food and mail versions.
Thanks for confirming my suspicions, Janice.
Great article. I, too, have never tried spam and probably never will.
Thanks! I guess there's more SPAM-less folks out there than I realized!

Haha...when in Rome...
